"Bounced" or Worthless Checks
Passing a worthless check is a crime where the check is given with knowledge that it has no value and the person passing the check receives goods or services in return. States typically prosecute offenders under misdemeanor fraud statutes if the person who receives the worthless check notifies the prosecutor's office of the crime.
