Time Off
As with benefits, most time granted away from the job is at the discretion of the company. Time off is often granted because it allows an employee to "recharge their batteries" (vacations), carry out civic responsibilities (jury duty) or deal with health or childcare issues. Payment for this time off is not required, although most companies do pay for time away from the job as an employee benefit.
