Unlawful Towing
Towing another vehicle is not a traffic violation in and of itself; however, certain tow requirements must be met. State laws may specify a required towing device, such as a tow bar rather than a chain. Additionally, slower speeds and synchronized lights and signals may apply to vehicles in tow.
SIDEBAR: Trailers pulled behind vehicles have specific requirements pertaining to hitches, safety lights, weight and speed in each state. Make sure you are well aware of the laws before you pull your trailer onto a public road. Police officers can be very exacting about these requirements.
